LeaderGen is delighted to announce the commencement of a formal partnership with TradeMark East Africa (TMEA).

TMEA is a multi-donor funded organisation that exists to alleviate the barriers to inter-regional trade between the East African Community member countries. LeaderGen have secured the opportunity to deliver a number of corporate engagement events on behalf of TMEA.

TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) is a not for profit company which aims to promote regional trade and economic integration in East Africa through, inter alia, support to the EAC Secretariat, EAC Partner State governments, business and civil society organisations to take forward and benefit from the process of economic integration in East Africa.   TMEA works with private sector and civil society organisations to strengthen advocacy, analysis and monitoring of East African regional integration and to enhance collaboration within the sectors.

Given that the private sector have the most valuable input; frontline experience of doing business, they must be consulted and included designing the solutions to improve the enabling environment as well as improving trade competitiveness. One way of achieving the goal is through effective private sector influence at levels of national government and EAC.

Additionally, targeted media and communications interventions will stimulate public dialogue and debate and bring to the attention of stakeholders in the region, the nature and scope of problems that affect businesses and EAC citizens and the key roles that the private sector and civil society can and should play in the regional integration process.

Having a previous track record, through the successful organizing and hosting of a TMEA corporate roundtable event, Leadergen have now been commissioned to support the TMEA Private Sector and Civil Society Team to deliver their key objectives by developing and implementing an effective and practical stakeholder engagement strategy with the corporate and media sectors within the EAC.

Effective stakeholder engagement is an important discipline that is used to win support from people who can exert power and influence over project outcomes. Proactive involvement of stakeholders in the decision-making process of new projects is vital to encouraging and ensuring strong support for the achievement of Trade Mark East Africa’s objectives of deepening integration and expanding trade as a driver for sustaining high rates of economic growth. This is essential for ensuring that TMEA succeeds, where other donor funded projects have failed.
