A Coachees case study
Situation Analysis
I have worked for the Local Authority for 3 years and worked my way up four grades during that time. At the stage when I started being coached by a Leadergen professional coach, I knew I could make a bigger contribution. However, I was intimidated by the processes of communication through the organisational hierarchy, committees and forums. I was also concerned that my ideas might be interpreted as arrogant and therefore never disclosed them.
Objectives
During one of my sessions with my LeaderGen coach, I identified this inhibition as a major source of frustration both with me personally, my job satisfaction and my view of the authority as a long-term place to continue my career. So it was recognised that I should have an initiative and strategy to bring my ideas forward.
Implementation
Realising that my fears and inhibitions were not serving me well, I summoned the confidence to speak directly to the Deputy Chief Executive and to casually ask for a meeting. At that meeting I put my ideas forward.
Results
My suggestions have been adopted and I have been given a key role in developing them. My esteem and organisational respect have been increased.
