LeaderGen CEO Marilyn Comrie has been honoured in the Queens Birthday Honours List with an OBE for her services to womens enterprise. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was established in 1917 by King George V to recognise individuals who have made a real difference in their chosen field, or in their communities.
LeaderGen's success has been built on the firm foundations of collaborative working with a team of like minded women entrepreneurs, reflecting the company's core values around women in business. Speaking today, Marilyn attributes her success to the commitment and professionalism of women like style guru Lisa Maynard Atem, whose passion and dedication in building Marilyn's reputation and profile has been a critical factor in LeaderGen's sustainable growth and development.
" I would like to acknowledge the years of support and contribution that women like Suzanne Longworth, Kadija George, Nighat Awan OBE, Yvonne Sampson, Anamaria Wills and Lisa have given me that has inspired me to greatness, as well as the many other professional and business women who have enhanced my life. I owe you all a huge debt of gratitude.
But the greatest influence of all, is undoubtedly my mother Daisy who was and is an unstoppable force for change, and taught me through the example she set, that I could have and be anything I wanted."
Marilyn will recieve her OBE medal, which stands for Officer of the Order of the British Empire, from Her Majesty The Queen at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace later this year.
She added " HRH the Queen is someone whom I have always admired. She has presided over a period of immense change during her rule, and is the embodiment of good grace, integrity, calm self assurance and dignified leadership. I am extremely honoured and deeply humbled to receive this award, and hope it will inspire generations of women to aspire to the highest offices of leadership".
Marilyn set up LeaderGen in 2004 to equip emerging and existing leaders with the tools for effecting positive transformation in business and society to benefit the many, and not just the few. She has worked with a wide range of clients including governments, large public sector organisations, corporates and small businesses. However her abiding passion has been equipping women and ethnic minorities with the confidence and skills to go beyond their own self-imposed limitations, and make a real impact as leaders.
Her book, Leaderene - The Rise of the Philisopher Queens, will receive its official launch and publication in the US in Spring 2010. To reserve an advance copy please email here
